I remember driving by the South El Monte, CA Launch Site (LA-14) on Sundays, on our way to my grandparents house - when the missiles were up, it was the highlight of our drive!

Those were crazy times; who remembers the "duck and cover"routine under your office desk? Did anyone believe that action would save them? My memory of the Nike sites is of the soldier I dated who was stationed at the Manchester site.
