WICH-AM in Norwich, CT has a government-built bomb shelter under their original studio building which is located at their transmitter site. It originally contained a Western Electric radio console, barrels of supplies and two wall-mounted, fold down sleeping cots. The shelter was turned into a functional modern studio a number of years ago. We toured the facility in August, 2010.

Another view of the shelter which had extremely thick concrete walls and ceiling with steel I-beams for ceiling support. The heavy steel door
had been replaced years ago. This structure is underground, beneath the main building.
